Organizational Structure

Collegium

The IUCN Academy is a network of university-based environmental law centres (or equivalent). Each environmental law centre may nominate a representative as a member of the Academy’s Academic Collegium or annual general meeting. The representatives of law centers in the Collegium elect the members of the Governing Council of the Academy.

The Governing Board

The Governing Board consists of five to nine persons elected by representatives of the Law Centres participating in the Collegium. The Chair of IUCN’s Commission on Environmental Law and the head of IUCN’s Environmental Law Program are ex officio members of the Governing Board, to ensure close continuing cooperation with IUCN in the implementation of the Academy’s research recommendations. The Co-Directors are also ex officio members. The Governing Board defines the Academy’s projects and operations.
