General CriteriaUniversities participate in the Academy through their respective law schools, law departments or law faculties. The criteria of membership are as follows:Membership in the Academy is open to all environmental law centres (or equivalent) that meet the admission criteria set by the Governing Council. There is no limitation on the number of member institutions per country or per region. Membership is intended for environmental law centres that have already made a significant commitment for study and teaching of environmental law. Institutional membership entitles an environmental law centre to send a representative to the Academy’s annual Collegium. Different levels of fees are set by the Governing Council to facilitate participation from qualifying institutions in developing nations and nations with economies in transition. Admission CriteriaThe Governing Council takes into account the following criteria when considering applications for membership of the Academy:Number of professors specialised in environmental law Teaching in environmental law on a regular basis History of publishing in environmental law Institutional Annual Membership DuesThere are four categories of annual membership fees, depending on the location of the Member Institution.High-Income Economies: 400 EUR/year Upper-Middle-Income Economies: 300 EUR/year Lower-Middle-Income Economies: 200 EUR /year Low-Income Economies: 50 EUR /year *Note: The annual membership fee for Member institutions is based on the 2006 World Bank’s classification of economies. The classification of region applies if your country is not listed individually.
