Professor de Sadeleer visits the IUCN Academy in Ottawa
On Tuesday July 3, Professor Nicolas de Sadeleer was welcomed to the Academy Secretariat at the Faculty of Law, University of Ottawa, and gave a seminar on “Environmental Principles”, which is the subject of his book of the same name (Oxford University Press 2005).  He also met with Co-Director of the Academy, Professor Ben Boer and researchers working on a Protected Areas project related to the joint Protected Areas Taskforce Law and Policy Taskforce established by the Commission on Environmental Law and World Commission on Protected Areas. Professor de Sadeleer, a civil law specialist in the area of environmental law, is based at Facultés Universitaires Saint-Louis in Brussels.   Until recently he held the EU Marie Curie Chair on Risk and Precaution at Oslo University.  His latest book is Implementing the Precautionary Principle: Approaches from the Nordic Countries, EU and USA (Earthscan 2007).  He was in Canada to teach at the annual summer school in environmental law at the Université de Montreal.
