Prof Robinson Statement on Climate Change in UN General Assembly Debate |
Professor Nicholas Robinson, Chair of the IUCN Academy of Environmental Law, in his capacity as legal advisor to the Asian-African Consultative Organisation, made a statement during the Informal Thematic Debate of the United Nations General Assembly on 1 August 2007, entitled "Climate Change as a Global Challenge".
In this statement Professor Robinson traces the role of environmental law and policy in the climate change debate, and argues for the strengthening of the capacity of States to ensure that current environmental law tools such as environmental impact assessment and energy efficiency regulations can be put to work more effectively. He mentions the IUCN Academy's role in capacity building with respect to national environmental laws. Click here for a copy of the statement. |
