The Natural Resources Knowledge Network: Access to Research and Events

The Natural Resources Law and Governance Knowledge Network is managed by the IUCN Academy of Environmental Law. The Network provides a focal point for sharing resources and expertise on issues related to natural resources law and policy.

This site provides access to resources and research from the Canadian-based institutions that are members of the Network. In addition to creating a repository of information, the Network is establishing linkages with networks and researchers operating in other parts of the world. Access to expertise in other regions of the world is key, as many of the issues related to natural resources law, policy and science are common across jurisdictions.

What is available?

You can access the resources in this repository and learn more about the research and events that are being conducted by these institutions. Each of the member institutions, listed below, have initiated and collaborated on a wide range of topics, related to natural resources. This site has been designed to give you access to key reports or papers in the area of natural resources law and policy.

We will be updating the list on a regular basis, as new research and events are announced by the members of the Network.

Participants in Canada

Natural Resources Canada has provided support to the creation of this Knowledge Network. Natural Resources Canada (NRCan)'s goal is to create a sustained resource advantage for Canadians by embracing the idea that economic competitiveness includes environmental leadership. In working collaboratively with other partners, the department's role is to help bring together the strengths of all of Canada's natural resource assets -- its endowment of energy, forests and minerals, people and ideas and systems -- to achieve three inter-related strategic outcomes for Canadians: enhancing the economic competitiveness and productivity of the natural resources sectors so that they continue to contribute to the prosperity and social well-being of Canadians, making Canada a world leader in terms of environmental responsibility in the development and use of natural resources, and providing for the safety and security of Canadians within a natural resource context, as well as for the stewardship of Canada's natural resources and lands. For further information, please see www.nrcan.gc.ca.
