The Academy Colloquia are annual international gatherings of specialists in environmental law to facilitate collaboration and communication among experts across all regions of the world. These meetings provide extensive opportunities for networking, for scholars and policy makers. Collaboration across research specialties and across the world have been important outcomes of these colloquia.

Since 2003, the IUCN Academy has held eleven annual Colloquia to bring together legal scholars and policy makers to address the most urgent issues related to environmental law, policy and governance. These major events, convened in locations around the globe, have generated important dialogue about issues and priorities related to sustainable development, biodiversity, compliance and enforcement, energy and environmental protection and poverty alleviation.
